Bereavement and Encouragement group

The group visit bereaved, support and in time encourage people back into society, especially those who are frail and at risk. Loss of community involvement with the frail elderly can speed up dementia and dependency in turn reduces their health. They can with support live again and contribute themselves by taking part in the community and making new friends.

The Community Plan Project is a bereavement and encouragement group.

The aim of the project is to recruit and train volunteers to understand the grieving process and to have knowledge of the supportive services in the community.

The volunteers will visit in pairs thereby keeping continuity of support and security. In turn they can draw others into the network and visit the wider community.

The Pastoral Group were awarded £4,000 from the Community Plan Fund 2008
