Funding provides much needed help for Carers

Guideposts Trust is a registered charity which exists to provide direct services for people with dementia, with or recovering from mental health problems and those with learning disabilities.

For over thirty years Guideposts Trust has worked in the community offering care, support and opportunity to those who are vulnerable, frail and facing disadvantage. Today the charity provides comprehensive and complementary range of community based services, through a number of successful projects in the South, East and Midlands of England.

Services developed and provided by Guideposts include: day care provision, leisure schemes for the most profoundly disabled, supported housing schemes, support to carers, children's services, friendship pairings, vocational training and work experience, an adult placement service, and a holiday playscheme.

Guideposts Carers Support Service provides a free advice, information and support service for BME Carers who are looking after family, partners or friends at home, who are in need of help for reasons of illness, disability, frailty or who cannot manage on their own. The care they provide is unpaid.

The Community Plan Project is to provide social activities for carers. They will be able to attend group social activities whereby they have the opportunity to interact with other carers and spend some time away from their day to day routine with someone looking after their needs for a change.

Guideposts were awarded £4,830 from the Community Plan Fund 2008.
