The Acorn Centre seeks to offer counselling and support for people in crisis in the areas surrounding pregnancy. The centre also seeks to offer a comprehensive counselling service that works within the areas of bereavement following pregnancy and also offer support to those with postnatal depression.
The centre also seeks to help in a pro active way by working within the local schools. This includes PSHE lessons and individual counselling on a one to one basis. In 2005 launched a Young Persons Counselling service, based on the growing amount of referrals we receive as a result of our work with young people.

The project further builds on the work we carry out within the centre. Our local Sure Start Children's Centre, works with predominantly young mums and a large proportion of these can present with postnatal depression. Being a young parent can bring about considerable life changes, which many can be unprepared for. It can be daunting for young people in general to enter a counselling agency and we feel that to meet with the young mums, on premises where they are already used to being could ease this for them.
